Just to give a little insight into life in spain and the cost of living compared to most of europe,
I lived and worked there for 5 years and the take home pay was around 2500 per month, there is a lot to take into account to make that money go far believe me.
RENT.
2 months deposit and 1 months rent, (deposit is never returned) circa 800 per month for rental
BILLS
circa 150 per month elec plus 30-40 gas if installed.
CAR.
300 per month long term hire, or 1500 euro to buy a clapped out banger.
FUEL.
1.20 euro per litre, maybe 100-150 per month.
FOOD.
average 50-100 per week (depending on stomach size and supermarket)
So taking incidentals into account (private healthcare etc..) your monthly outgoings are circa 1800 - 2000 euros to live and work near the major airports (or even in a radius of 40km or so), Please check T&Cs carefully and make sure you do your research into the cost of living in that area, because it isnt all rosy..

Isnt that the point of my post to show the realism of living on that kind of salary in a particular country, My point is simple, look at the monthly wage on offer then evaluate if you can afford to live on that taking into account what i previuosly posted.
We all love flying (hopefully) but you also need to be able to survive on the wages.

I don't know if IBERIA EXPRESS will be in the market or not within a foresable future. But if finally it will be probably they will get all procedures, training, facilities, etc.. from its big brother. That means everything is in SPANISH. So if anyone wants to wait and apply for it probably you will need to be more that fluent in Spanish, lets say ICAO 6.

Iberia's new subsidiary Iberia Express has been given the go-ahead by the board of parent International Airlines Group to launch operations next summer.
The new division will operate part of Iberia's short and medium haul network from a base at Madrid Barajas using a fleet of Airbus A320s in a two-class, business/economy configuration. It will serve point-to-point markets as well as providing transfer feed onto Iberia's long-haul network.
"The subsidiary will offer competitive fares from Madrid and is being established to compete effectively in the Spanish domestic and European market," said IAG. "Over time it will look to develop new markets and destinations and strengthen the Madrid hub, creating new jobs for the Spanish economy."

Rumours of Iberia using Vueling pilots leased out to fly Iberia express.
" The subsidiary will launch with an initial fleet of four A320s, growing to 13 aircraft by the end of 2012 - all sourced from Iberia.
"Iberia Express will have lower operating costs than Iberia's loss-making short and medium haul business," said IAG.
This will be achieved by recruiting staff to the airline "at market rates" and having "improved aircraft utilisation", it added. Initially, maintenance and ground handling has been awarded to Iberia.
"The creation of Iberia Express will not change the terms and conditions of existing Iberia employees or Iberia's existing relationships with Vueling and Air Nostrum," said IAG.

Oh come on now .... Where on earth can anyone hope to find close on 400 airbus type rated chaps on the Market next year in this day and age... Especially if your parent company is someone so insignificant as I.A.G............ Now hang on a minute.... It's alright lads...I got a great idea ....

I imagine they are at least considering that possibility. However, how many of said BMI pilots would want to move to Madrid on a 'market rate' contract......... Time will tell but I can't imagine too many would be jumping at the chance, especially if they think they have a chance of being offered a BA contract. So there could well still be a need for huge recruitment.

Uhmmmm.... If IAG finally decides to go ahead and get the Iberia Express show on the road it may find itself needing a whole new Iberia all together... Long Haul included.

I would think that Iberia Express is a huge topic on the oneworld union meeting taking place this week, as well as the ongoing QANTAS conflict. Interesting times ahead within that alliance.

Management trying to sway the public against the pilots in the press.
IAG and Iberia management behaving badly.
It is a classic war of the old days of Iberia pilots with decent conditions and Iberia express with pilots as bus drivers with no union and low pay.
They say low pay means more competitive but it also means greater bonuses for the executives that negotiate this.
Good luck to the Iberia pilots.

IAG is starting this "IBexpress" as a torpedo under the pilot workforce floatline.
Pilots can only strike 5% of the flights (which amounts to a de facto banning of their right to strike). Even if they strike, they will be imposed a referee, which will always be on teh part of the management. As a note, the actual lawyer buffete assessing IB is led by the Referee of the last strike that ended in a "laudo" or command of the referee. Rome pays well to traitors.
Then, with time, the cancer will extend until it eats up the whole classic workforce.
They don't have the balls to do the same to BA pilots.

They are selecting pilots already.
Low experience, even the captains. And they are even hiring low houred FOs to start command right away.
All of them well wired, or with the pocket full of money.
