Hi, I am looking for some documents that applies to female pilots who wish to bear children. What benefits they can receive from the company and/or what to bargain for when they are on term.
Benefits like leave allowances, medical benefits, etc.
Do they have to go re-training after post-birth?
I am interested with the benefits a female pilot can receive from the company.
How long and how soon does she have to go on Leave?
I am helping a fellow pilot with this. I hope you can share anything on this matter.

Currently in Australia it is down to the individual's contract, but the Australian Government is introducing a paid parental scheme in 2011 where any employee who has a child will be eligible for up to 18 weeks at the minimum wage.
Some employers currently offer quite generous paid leave in Australia, but I can't think of any that employ pilots (perhaps some QF or J* people could add to this). I don't recall reading anything about it in the recently released award.
As for foreign operators, sorry but I have no idea. They would be bound by the laws of the country in which they operate.

Hi,
under UK rules you are supposed to be grounded for the first three months (kind of your choice really depending on whether or not you want to declare that you are pregnant, my wife chose to go to the doc at three months, I was not going to argue) she then carried on flying up to the six month point. She returned to the air six months after birth after passing her base check. I wish you good luck with it all.

Our company does not have any policy with our Female Pilots getting pregnant. I quess they have to negotiate leave balances and benefits with management.

Hats off to your wife.
I believe it is the individuals choice if she can work until 6 months.
Did she encounter any resistance from management with her condition? ( I assume your wife is a pilot also, isn't she)
