Alternative Contracts to EU/US

Ok,

Im trying to get a good appreciation of what it would be like to be thrown into the industry if CTC do not place me. Its looking like a bad state of affairs, obviously, if mid pilots with a fair number of hours on type relative to an application still cant get into an airline. So straight out of school with no type rating, and a frozen ATPL is not a good state to be in in Europe.

So my question is this: What other options would be available to me (if any) that do not seem as "nice" as flying for a European/US airline? ie. contract work in deepest darkest Africa for local airlines, UN etc etc., just to get the bond paying.

Thanks for any help
