It was a deceased airline. Vague assurances 'that it could have been rescued' are worthless. That's business life. It went down the pan, and the remaining assets were carved off as required, the rest discarded. It's exactly the same everywhere, and will be the same with LDV, Jaguar, Chrysler, store chains, fashion shops, the works. It was not a takeover or merger. Sad for the victims, but it's business. Anyone who comes out of such a situation with a job should breathe thanks. It wasn't BALPA that did it. BALPA had a weak hand in trying its best with BA. It's history- time to move on.

Compared to other unions fees are higher and membership is lower. But the organisation employs people of very high calibre and does a great deal more work than people realise.
If I want sensible debate I go to our BALPA or even the company website, both of don't allow anonymity and therefore contributors are self moderating as they have to publically stand behind their words
I do publically stand behind my words and have told BALPA along with other collueges where they could improve, and think there base visits were v.good in letting there members know what they are paying for.
BALPA does do some good, I was just suggesting maybe someone else can do it better!
