Air Contractors (Ireland Operation)
Hey guys,
Just wondering if anyone has any info on the Ireland based operation of Air Contractors. What's the roster like? Pay? T+C's? Is it mostly nights?
I've had a look at ppjn but the data seems to be a little old, Is it the same now?

Yes that's the same as before (no pay increase for the time being). Some few routes are operated during the day, but 85% of the network is flown at night all over europe (beautiful Sunrises to watch, lots of shooting stars, and it sounds much quieter on the Freq, although we can still hear all the times FR/EZY/AB/AF/LH, etc.. doing their early or late shifts).
The ATR fleet might be growing up a bit this year, however the company is already overcrewed and some A300 FOs are sent back to the ATR fleet.
No recruitment.

Never met a Contractors pilot who complained about it much. Not much staff turnover which is a clue in itself. Last guy I met who left only did so because it he got into Aer Lingus.

I am not sure if there is any union at ACL.
It's very true that so far the employees have always been very well treated by the management and they have had very good terms and conditions.
The maintenance is very good as well. As a consequence of all of that, ACL have always been inonded by CVs and most of new FOs and Captains joined the board with a remarkable previous experience on type.
Now with the current economic climat, they are thinking of cutting some costs.The managers are aware of the current job market which is a good weapon for putting the employees under pressure in order to accept new "deals"... but the company also bears in mind that when the job market will get better then it will be hard (or impossible) to keep the staff in, willing to fly a second hand cargo turboprop at night for peanuts. So that's a challenging and interesting situation.
Nothing firmly decided yet.

Dont know about people being unhappy but I think youll find that IALPA cant help because they havent got members there.ACL is one of those companies that generally can keep a happy ship and crew dont feel the need to rally around unions.

Your asking at a bad time in the industry but I would say if this company has your interest keep your ear to the ground ,its the best place I ever worked.
