I'll be interested to see him produce proof that money was lifted from bmi bank accounts, now that bmi's said it's rubbish
Reading This Thread I suspect some sort of processing error was made between bmi and some Banks i.e. the Payslips were sent out for the increased amount, and a corresponding Bank Deposit electronic list sent to the Banks... but at some point this was "cancelled" or replaced by a new list from bmi. And I doubt one will pinpoint exactly whether it was bmi, and/or (some of) the banks, that got the timings wrong

A memo from the company acknowledges that overpayments had been recovered and also that crew could have been disadvantaged - in complete contradiction to the statement aired on channel 4.

Well chaps, here's my 2 cents worth ...
BALPA have (at best) been a piss poor organisation for as long as I can remember (I am and have been a BALPA member for a looong time) - especially if you don't work for BA.
They take a significant amount of money every month, and we get a calendar once a year.
There are 2 reasons I reckon most pilots stay in BALPA
1. BALPA will run the company list and protect seniority
2. BALPA will give you support and advice when it alls goes wrong
Well, number 1. is now in the pan, and I can get number 2. for a sixth of the price ...
So why .......

Quite a lot of us didn't get the initial payment at all, just got paid 2 days late minus the raise. As said above, others saw the payment in their accounts only to find it missing the next time they looked, not a nice situation. The company decided so late that the rise was not going to be honoured that the transfer process was already in motion and had to be stopped at short notice resulting in some payments being withdrawn by the banks when the authorisation was cancelled. In short it was a complete and utter c**k up that could easily have been avoided by just paying the pilots (the only group who had already had the rise, the rest of the company were going to get it in April) at the correct rate for the month we had already worked on the new scale and then talking about it.

Thats what I thought Chippy................until I needed them.
There was no money left in their legal budget (wonder what vociferous group bagged all that then???) and I was left to fight and win a constructive dismissal claim on my own.
I feel conned out of ten years worth of subscriptions frankly.
Give yourself a one percent pay rise and send "Champagne Jim" on his way is my advice. He spends too much time nurturing delusions of grandeur and not enough attention to interests of individual members.
