Years ago when I contracted for an Italian charter company we had at that time a few Sterling aircraft on wet lease. . . . . . unmitigated disaster.
Their allowed duty hours were nothing like as liberal as the Italian version ( don't know if that was the Danish NAA or contractural, I suspect the latter) so they could only operate about 2/3 of the flights planned for them. Not an ideal scenario for a company hoping to gain business in the wet-lease arena
I suspect this sour grapes directed at AEU is indeed inspired by the fact that you showed Sterling's inefficiencies only too clearly.
Who, incidentally is your MD (the training Capt ) ?

Supermario(but not his brothers).
EU wotsisname can read the IOSA audit on AEU if he can in fact read.
Regrettably there MIGHT be some people laid off(the thread topic) and in turn this will ensure a healthy profit. Not mere survival. The P word! Which means that AEU can hire them all back again when the world turns the corner.
Count Bawbag- armed with my latest copy of the Eagle annual I note the spelling error....Mr Mekon I believe.

Mistrust in Management
Anybody wish to post what the selection criteria for redundancy are?
Apologies to all previous posters who are going on about haircuts, Brucie etc; but this is a serious thread about Pilots who will lose their jobs and face possible financial hardship.
I won't post the selection criteria, but any of the other AEU Pilots may if they feel they can.
The CC meeting is tomorrow.
I personally hope that AEU go on to be profitable, and that all employees share in its future success.
Now you can go back to haircuts and Bruce
Regards
Exeng

Totally agree, but twits who talk down a what is a profitable and viable company need to take a cold bath. I'm sure things will become clearer after today. Union round robin letter went out and the IPA do seem on the case. Nothing anyone can do at the moment other than keep doing a decent job, or, as the WW2 poster on my clipboard says....."keep calm...and carry on".
Thank you for the freebie..the Sunday Times.

Interesting thread. I hope AEU is indeed profitable and able to keep all current employees. AEU´s drag is however its owner, the very same that owned (and sold, bought, sold and bought again, everytime at a higher price) Sterling.
They also own Iceland Express (is AEU getting paid for that flying? or is its profitability used to subsidise IEX losses...).
Word is the owners, whether called Fons, Fengur or Northern Travel Holding may be about to collapse, the Sterling dealings will be subject to investigation as part of the collapse of FL Group/Stodir.

I hope that Astraeus ride the downturn, I could have been working for them (if the interview had gone better and I lived in Chiswick ), so I sympathise for those who might have to leave!! However, there is a definite need for a company like Astraeus, even though in times like these it's difficult.
Still, I'm flying the E195, so at least I get "fresh(er)" air through the Packs!!

hope it all goes well
i hope that AEU continues to be ok and that no one faces losing their job,
i flew many times with AEU on both 737 and 757 to aswan , mykonos and luxor and dubrovnik mostly going on hols with jules verne
(posh holidaymakers not chavvy essex scallies lol)
i'm ex airline ops since 1972 but retired now,
a great bunch AEU both f/d and c/c...
also a superb chap on the ground at LGW called fernando who looked after my sister and i superbly after a check-in screw up and found we had no seats on boarding to aswan lol
its a shame you no longer do IT flights on a regular basis to nice places for nice passengers as there are now NO small 'inde' charter airlines left except Monarch,
everyone else has gone bust or merged...i mean everyone !
its camping in dorset this summer i think LOL

Mr Halibut, Sir.
I am humbled by your retort, and I shall not refer to the great 757 as a gas guzzler, nor fume generator forthwith.
However, I must respond to the sheep shagger comment. I live on the eastern side of the bridges and therefore do not shag sheep. (I wouldn't want sloppy seconds anyway... )
