Thomas Cook

Could anyone spread any light on how long Thomas Cook have had a pilot base in LBA on the 'bus.

Is it just a summer base? Permanent maybe?

Cheers

1 x A320 summer only, mostly crewed by Canadian pilots (Skyservice) I believe.

Shares an A320 this winter with Cardiff for half the week but crewed from other bases.

Thanks LG,

Do you know what the current recruitment website address is?

I have: www.thomascookjobs.co.uk from PPJN but I can't get it to work. Not sure if the problem is my end or t'other.

All the best,

Looking at 100 new recruits and 20 new commands after a busy Summer without enough crew.

I don't know which fleets they are looking to recruit for, although I would assume for both bus and boeing.

Fleets

Does anyone know what future plans the company has for the fleet, Airbus/Boeing or both? I'm interested in long haul work, and would be curious as to which fleet would be best to join on.

Any info greatly appreciated.

Thanks

If you want LH then the 'bus at LGW or MAN. Boeing is doing less these days.

Yes, can someone please shed some light on the Thomascooksjobs website. I keep getting:

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

Don't think it is at my end as I have tried a few different PC's all to no avail.

Does someone know Neville Hunts email address?

Cheers

Steve

Steve,

link is Thomas Cook Careers Website

Click on airline, then current vacancies. Only cabin crew vacancies listed currently I'm afraid.

Accessed using Firefox.

Would Thomas Cook hire DEC, if not what would be the time to command? Also heard a rumour that they will be replacing the 757 fleet with 737-900. Not sure how true this rumour is as I heard it off a fat bloke down the pub.

Average time to command observed: 7 to 10 years.

The company has delayed the fleet renewal because of economic climate.

Heard that during the short space of time that XL operated their 739 fleet, they found that they had payload problems on the longer trips such as SSH back to the UK. To put it simply - it is a poor replacement for a 757!

stop,stop,stop.... good luck if you do apply. Time for a change from the jungle jet?

Just checked. Limited type rated recruitment later this year or in Jan and the rest depends on next years fleet. Website is closed at the moment.

Hope this helps

10 days off a month, trip line gives you the opportunity to pick up some extra work for overtime.

Block window protection +-2hrs.

Opprortunities for winter work such as the Hajj and Canada.

I flew under 700hrs this past year on the 757.

Rostering isn't perfect, I still get the odd early followed by night flight.

A330 is busy. Not too much time down route these days, with a lot of positioning.

Not too sure about current staff travel and pensions for new joiners.

Generally a nice company to work for, although a few problems still need to be ironed out post merger.
