Does BA have a Senior FO pay scale?
I think (not absolutely sure) that BA has, or used to have, a Senior FO status and pay-rate?
If so could someone in the know explain? I'm interested in at what number of years it kicks in and for how long. Also, is the pay-rate higher than for a regular FO and by how much?
Reason for asking is that at my company, during current contract negotiations, FO's are disgruntled at the level of stagnation and want a higher percentage of Captain's pay in the future in lieu of the longer time to left seat upgrade. I was wondering if instituting a Senior FO status might just 'fill the gap'.
Thoughts anyone?

Short answer is NO.
Basically in BA you start as a lowly FO not matter what your qualifications. After 3 years and provided you have a full ATPL you become a SFO.
If you don't have a full ATPL at the end of 5 years you then will not move up the pay scale. i.e you will stay at Pay Point 5 until you get the full ATPL.
The pay scale is the same - only difference is whether you came direct from flying school (TEP) or have experience (DEP). TEP pay less than DEP for first 5 years.
Management like to have an interview for the SFO upgrade, but it is not compulsory. It usually runs like this:
Manager "Are you interested in ever doing a management role?"
Pilot "You can't lure me to the dark side, Darth!"

Pretty much as Thunderbug says except his timings are a little off. You become an SFO after 4 years, and then the next hoop to jump through is after 7 years. At each stage there is a management interview. If you do not have a FULL ATPL after seven years your seniority gets frozen - they cannot under UK law stop your progression up the salary scales - though they will still try this on. Hope this helps.
