Short answer is NO.
Basically in BA you start as a lowly FO not matter what your qualifications. After 3 years and provided you have a full ATPL you become a SFO.
If you don't have a full ATPL at the end of 5 years you then will not move up the pay scale. i.e you will stay at Pay Point 5 until you get the full ATPL.
The pay scale is the same - only difference is whether you came direct from flying school (TEP) or have experience (DEP). TEP pay less than DEP for first 5 years.
Management like to have an interview for the SFO upgrade, but it is not compulsory. It usually runs like this:
Manager "Are you interested in ever doing a management role?"
Pilot "You can't lure me to the dark side, Darth!"
