N.S.F.or indeed anyone else at Easy Jet.... can you throw any light on the matter of part time . Do you put your name down on a list and if so what is the time frame from going on said list. I am led to believe 75% is available. If so ,how does this tend to generally work in the 5/4/5/3 roster. Scouse geordie goes North...but I go South and will be waving bye bye to BA staff travel in March. Looking forward to working with the guys n girls at Lgw.

As far as I'm aware you need to be in the company min 1 year before you can apply for part time. 75 % and 50% available.
I'm on full time but I hear that the 75% isn't worth it as you still work 100% but get paid 75%. The 50 % should be quite good you work just over a week per month.

Taking 5 days leave a month also helps. You then work 5 on 4 off, 5 leave days then 3 days off. This way you get 6 months a year 12 days off in a row at full pay.

You can also get another four weeks off unpaid leave and use it up the same way, if you have children under the age of 5. This will give you a full year's worth of 12 days off in a row and another four days during the month as well.

You loose about ten percent of your salary and not fifty percent.

A much cheaper option and you do not have to wait a year.

Guys thanks for the information...shame I don't have any kids under 5!!!!!. Do you know how the days off would be rostered on a 75% roster...the reason being is that I have to commute across the Channel and looking at the crewing agreement 01/04/07 it means travelling home on first rd after lates and last rd prior to earlies. Don't mind being flogged whilst in my gaff in UK but trying to get that balance of lifestyle to spend nights at home. Looking forward to working with you guys.

On a 75% roster you have a choice:

7 days consecutively off per 28 days (the "split month") with a minimum of 6 days off in the 3 weeks "on" (usually in pairs, but sometimes 3 and sometimes wrapping round the part-time week giving 8 or 9 days off)

Or the "split week" where you allocate 3 or 4 days per week to work, up to a nominal 15 per month.

You are capped at 700 hours.

And although there are some detractors (see above, but they probably haven't tried it), and although this probably equates to a "full-time" roster of say 20 years ago, you just have to deal with it - that's just the way it is. Suits me - I go away on holiday every other month.

Bureau,

GB and Easy have both said that those already on part time will have that honoured. With this winter already being slack in GB, why not get part time soon, before next March's integration.

Off on a tangent, if we could go straight on to 5/4/5/3 from April, we could load up on Hotlines couldn't we, to make the commute easier and cheaper!

Actually, talking of hotlines, do you know anyone in BA who'd be willing to buy them for you after the takeover?

Have already sent email to BW regarding going part time...awaiting response. Need to cover all aspects, avenues etc etc. Also exploring possibility of being a named friend regarding staff travel with other carrier to get me across the pond!!!!!!Cold up North?Mild down south

staff pestering people to buy things
Don't know how many EZY flights you've been on but I travel with them frequently and have never once been 'pestered' to buy things.

If you think that the brilliant EZY Cabin Crew are pestering you to buy things it may be to offer you some of the things you pay an outrageous price for with other airlines i.e. food and drink. On other airlines these are certainly not complimentary!

If they are 'pestering' you then make an issue with EZY management or the Senior Cabin Crew on the aircraft but if them asking you very politely and cheerfully if you would like something to eat or drink (which takes what....10 seconds out of your paperback?) to be pestering then you may want to have a look at the the definition of 'Pester' in the Oxford English Dictionary. As a matter of fact, don't bother ........

Does anyone know if the Heraklion route will be taken on by EZY? Friends of ours booked with GB and haven't been told yet whether they will get an Easyjet flight or a refund.

Being elderly and prone to worrying they are getting into a bit of a flap with the uncertainty ...

Hi burea.rbps (have I got that right?).....anyway part time at eJ
I am a 50% err and work a split month which means 2 weeks off and then working for 10 days in the following 2 weeks, this repeats every 28 days starting on a monday.
They wouldn't, when I last asked, roster me a fixed pattern in the 2 working weeks. In September and October I did 5/2/5/2 which meant I had both weekends off. In my November fortnight "on" I am doing 3on/2off/5on/2off/2on. I must ask again sometime for a fixed pattern.
You can do a "split week" which I think goes 4off/5on/7off/3on/5off/2on/2off which then starts the next cycle with 4off and away you go
I think there is now E.U.legislation in place which offers protection for part time working. When I started they did take the whatsit bigtime as I was rosterd 80 hours for my first 3 part time months (PMI/TLS every day) but they then conceded that this was wrong and spent the summer of 2006 getting my hours down which was quite pleasant. The 75% errs seem still to get a worse deal in terms of the level they work at. Certainley historically they effectively worked a full roster for 25% less pay. I keep a close eye on things and I'm running at about 440 hours/annum at the moment
I was lucky as I manage to secure part time after a year due to "external" reasons, my peers have waited for up to 3 years and had to throw their toys around a bit to get results.
Get on the list A.S.A.P and as they certainley over established at the moment so who knows.....hope this helps

Redbird - as far as I am aware, the GB programme until the end of next summer will progress as planned. After this time (next Oct), who knows? If your friends are booked after late March next year, they will travel, if they wish, on a GB operated EasyJet HER flight (provided the deal is ratified).

Scarlet P - Thanks for your reply. They are travelling in Sept, so should just about be included in "summer". They were a bit pouty about easyjet at first (they always pre-select seats with GB), but have now decided to buy priority boarding, suck it and see ...

Is it true that all gb psrs will have to work as maincrew and all gb cabin crew will have to reply after one year for their jobs ?
