Airlines in India. Which is the best now?
Having seen several start-ups and lots of jobs for expats, which is the one to go for, if any?
Airbus 320/330 TRE with squillions of hours but just over 60 yrs old.
Grateful thanks in anticipation of your info.

There are plenty. You can talk to kingfisher, Deccan(though they just got bought out by Kingfisher) still hiring independently, Indigo as already mentioned. 330 TRE's will be quiet hot with King looking to get them and jet not having enough of them.
A lot depends on the deal you get from them. Though a full service would be preferable, indigo is not a ba option either.
The age might be a bit of a problem with 330 since most of that flying is through different airspaces. 320 should be no problem since its only within the country.
Cheers

Many thanks, everybody.
News:
Jet says they are full of pilots on the 330 and don't need a 60+ year-old.
Kingfisher, on the other hand, ripped my hand off and seems very keen. Prob due to their order-book. I'll let you know the outcome.
ps:
for Bill: sorry; I have no information regarding 737s.

Just spoke to a colleague who is 61 years old and an expat flying 777 for the blue carrier. They are so short of pilots, flights are often crewed by two line captains. Only a few F/O's coming through the training network....sorry, no info on narrow bodies.

I strongly doubt they are short of pilots.
sent my application in India, all want hours on the A/C(100h-500h).
not interested by pilots having no hours on their planes.
some have tried to sell me some hours.100h for 15000$+taxe.
paying to work and eat curry everyday, not for me!

You are correct, they are short but only typed pilots are being hired.
For the 737 series, you have 3 options. Jet airways, Jet Lite(formerly sahara) and Spicejet. The comment about jet having enough captains is also true for the 737's. Though you can talk to them and see what they say.
spicejet would be the best bet i think. They are getting 3-5 new a/c over the next 6 months and therefore the requirement. Age is no prob, upto 65 is ok

Painfully Slow
Platypus 54 is dead on.
Am a F/O on B 777 and have been through the training schedule since Jan. Starting with Alteon in Singapore, it took all of 2 months to do it. Then we were rested for 3 months. Then sent to New Zealand end May to fly online with them. Returned in early August but most are still not flying line. Why? Because it takes DGCA and the company over 2 months to get licences endorsed. Then TREs are being used mostly on revenue flights and not available for checks. Its painfully slow. So a waiting game is on.
Have Indian Capts operating as F/Os so that their mandatory hrs for command on type are fulfilled. In the meanwhile Indian F/Os fiddle their thumbs and even after coming online, 2 flts a month to & fro LHR or BRU is the max if one is lucky.
Sad but true.
