Question Why are EJs pilots poorly paid in comparison to Ryanair's?

Sorry chaps if I have got this wrong but looking on EJ's website why is it that pilots get paid significantly less than their rivals Ryanair??. .. .Am I right in thinking SF/Os at Ryanair get a Basic of around 60k and EJ F/Os get 30K??. .. .I would have thought that both airlines would be offering similar pay and conditions?. .. .cheers . .. .ILS27R. . . . [ 24 March 2002, 08:49: Message edited by: ILS27R ]

I think you will find that the figures quoted for EZY are in fact basic salaries onto which there will be some additions - flight pay etc and hence quite accurate. I'm afraid that with Ryans it may be a little bit of a smoke screen and the ' basic salary ' they quote is in fact OTE ( on target earnings ).. .I don't think either are streaks ahead of the other - you just get it in a different way!. .. .ps. you may want to consider ammending the title if you want responses as it can be read as being detrimental to the abilities of EZY pilots and not pay related.. . . . [ 24 March 2002, 08:37: Message edited by: nice_beaver ]

Knowing as I do some easyJet, Ryanair and Go F/O's I can say that we all get just about the same per hour flown over the year. They all tot it up in different ways and FRA flatter to deceive in their advertised pay. It would better read 'gross package remuneration' rather than pay.. .. .You can earn a bit more at FRA but you will work a bit harder for it. Horses for courses. One thing RHS in the low costs don't moan about much is pay. There is little movement between the three (OK four, Buzz) for example.. .. .WWW

WWW,. .. .True - at E/J average take home for an F/O can vary but in my experience it has been around the GBP2600 - 2800 mark since I started. So gross per annum for a SFO wll be around 43-44K. However not everyone is as happy as I am - depends where you came from and where you are planning to go next! I plan to stay however I hear lots of people talking about moving on come November when their share options mature......we will see in November if it's all talk..... . .. .I would recommend E/J to anyone - nice mix of long and short sectors and plenty of handling, reliable machines, 6 on 3 off, decent RHS pay - what more do you want?
