There will be an informal REPA visit to STN to answer questions on Thursday April 12th.
The venue is the Radisson Hotel - ROOM 15.
Two meetings have been scheduled for 10:30 and 14:30 - however "drop in" visits from 09:30 onwards will be welcomed.

I will commence my pilot training program at the end of the month!
Approx. time to a fATPL is 12-14months.
So, let's say for example, I will be finnished in June-July 2008.
Will the situation at Ryanair have changed by then or will it still seem as hopeless to me as it does today?
As all of you know initial flight training costs enough but the thought of another 30k for a type rating to gain employment scares the sh!t out of me!
My concern is, for example, I have completed my training with an FTO today without going into details regarding job opportunities out there at the moment, the airline that I have to best possible chance of being employed with is Ryanair. Form reading the posts here I would be crazy to do so.
So I will not jump in head first to Ryanair once I complete my training however, I may be forced to, I don't know. Obviously every ab initio pilot wants his/her first job ASAP and don't mind taking the short straw for starters BUT paying a company 30k or more to be treated like a dog seems unbelievable really. Or maybe I'm just being incredibly nieve regarding my chosen career path and it's the only way.
So all the best to all you current Ryanair pilots at the moment with your attempt to unionise the airline.
Think of us poor young guys and girls who are coming up as well as the current European pilot population.
We are dependant on you, If they continue to get away with it other airlines may follow.
P.S If there are any Ryanair pilots based at Cork or living in the Munster area that would be willing to meet with me and explain to me one on one what it's really like as a Ryanair pilot, you could PM me or email me. I would REALLY appreciate that.

Complain,complain...Only a fool would ever consider making a career out of FR anyways. It is purely transition and hour building airline and that's it. If you don't like all the cutbacks (which you should see them forecoming), why did you apply with them?
Relax, iron your metal and slowly apply to other more reliable and fair companies.

In an airline with 1500+ pilots the simple reality of it is that there are not enough jobs for everyone to leave to. Which is why some of us would like to make it a career airline.

What alot of you guys out there don't realise is that the Ryanair way of working will be the norm in the not too distant future.
You can run but you cannot hide...........
Now if enough in FR have the b***s to stand up to them well then things may change for the better.
Easyjet have shown the way, nows it's the FR pilots turn.

Not many showed apparently, but I don't blame anyone who didn't show. I guess a lot of guys were rostered or spending time away from the company issues, like me.
But I have to point out - although I support unionisation of Ryanair, I thought the whole point of REPA was that it was a internal ANNONYMOUS forum to discuss issues. A meeting in person seemed a bit... frivelrous, not to mention a bit too much like being a fish in a barrel with the potential for any management types hanging around to see who pitched up. Besides, unless it was specifically to recruit more people to join a union, it would seem a bit like preaching to the the converted to me. Cowardly? Yes, maybe - but after hearing rumours of so many heads rolling in the past for trying to set up a union, a) no wonder a union hasn't materialised, b) thats why we have REPA - which at the moment is ONLY a website.
We all need to get out there and explain to people where the lines are. Who's REPA? Why join them if I can join IALPA? What advantage does it give me when the company doesn't recognise it? Those not like minded say "it costs money (of which we don't have much) and doesn't get me anything - it seems like a no brainer not to join" - this is what we're facing. And management will play on it and they know it. I have to say I thought like that too - but after this last pay deal I've had enough. If management aren't going to take this company seriously then the pilots bloody will!
It's a pity the management can't see beyond the length of their Mercedes' bonnets.
UK FR pilots should all join BALPA, which costs little but will reap big dividends once everyone's on board. EVERY FR pilot should sign up to REPA, which is Ryanair Pilot's own discussion site free of management interference, which is free to join. There you can put your name down to support the RPA, which is a pay deal that will make Ryanair the career airline we all know it can be.
As for UNITY UNITY UNITY - imho REPA seriously needs a new catchphrase - I mean, the notion is admirable, but I'm not a Socialist - I'm a Capitalist, and I say Invest For Success! Especially when it comes to my own pocket. The Unity thing kind of paints me Red and I'd rather not be associated with that image, thanks. However, collusion with other venture capitalists - that's perfectly reasonable to me!

Good posts lads.
Any FR pilots out there think of any good reason for not joining one of the stated unions, apart from saving a few shillings.
The only reason I can think of is if you really want to be one of the lowest paid pilots in the industry.
The Choice is yours.

F&F - I quite agree. I was saying that there are those out there who think that way. I know because I used to be one of them when I first went to Ryr. I have since realised that waiting for management to stop pi$$ing about and invest in their workforce is never going to happen (unless forced into it), but I fear waiting for everyone to get enough time in Ryr to realise it will lose the momentum we've built.
Therefore it is up to those in the know to get the rest into unions ASAP - my feeling is that there's far too much apathy in the ranks. We just lost SNN, for Christ's sake. Feel sorry for them.

This visit to the court was to set the date for the full hearing; the dates have been set and it will thus be held over a week in June. The fact that so many days have been allocated suggests that the Labour court intend to hear it all it one go, so matters are going to progress quickly.
This hearing, by the way, is the one that ryr management, particularly EW, promised only weeks ago would never happen. Well, well, lied to again by ryr management... To those of you who voted yes to the pay "deal", I hope EW's promises on the pay deal are better than his promise on the court hearing
