Interviewed with these guys. www.sunairjets.com
The Chief Pilot seems to be a pretty nice guy albeit dishonest. I took the time out from work, booked a hotel and a rental car to deadhead to LAX and drive the remaining 3 hours to the interview. The CP claimed the interview was for a Hawker Captain position. However, upon arrival the terms seemed to have changed overnight from our last conversation. The position had morphed into a typed-FO position on the Hawker with a chance to upgrade 13 or so months down the road. Trying to be as optimistic as I could be I stuck around to see what they were actually offering although I was effectively just investigating at that point.
I continued with the interview and ultimately made it to the Director of Operations desk for an introduction on behalf of the CP. The DO didn't make it 1 minute until he started slamming ex-military pilots and Part 121 pilots; total lack of professionalism. Furthermore, he went on to state that it would be atleast 24 months before an upgrade and the pay offered was nearly 8K less than what the CP said it would be just an hour prior; please review cost of living association with living north of Los Angeles, CA.
The entire interview seemed rather candid and it is obvious that they are really hurting for first officers (so is everyone else); one FO had just left for Skywest the day prior.
I would not recommend this establishment in the least bit although they have mediocre equipment and a rather nice FBO. For a 250 hour pilot starting off this will get you the time to make it to a regional, this is not a locale for someone looking to upgrade out of a stagnant part 121 regional.
