Question Swiss European crew shortage?

Just heard that 4 Avro (out of 24) are grounded every day due to lack of pilots. BTW they have a resignation rate of 10/month due to loosy working conditions and an union not able to cope with the current situation.

Does someone have inside news?

Devil Almost 100% spot on

Think you'll find that this month it was 5 planes, in April it will by 6 and by May 7.......

The problem is that as Swiss has not finalised "good conditions" with the union, and many of the outstanding matters are still "pending" in the "Swiss" minds. Staff are doing what they can do best - talking with their feet.
The situation may get worse but as Easy has just closed its books for their 400 new pilots for 2006 it will probably not be quite so bad. Netjets seems to have taken a few and of course those willing to go to the Gulf region or India - print your own ticket.

When Jumbolino (Avro 85/100) pilots are getting free retraining - in most cases they are leaving within 4-6 weeks of starting to think about it.
When under training elsewhere an F/O is doubling what he was getting including sector pay - the decision is not difficult. In fact some have asked to transfer to bowser driving at ZRH Airport - they get a fixed working time slot and a fixed shift - a clear location to work from/at and at least 20% more pay for less risk!

It probably actually suits SWISS - firstly the dropped flights are being covered to some extent by the BUS pilots and the under-full ones just save money being cancelled - and if this goes on they can close SWISS European and solve their problem! And LH can pick up the routes of course - or farm them to other smally partner contractors.

More embassasing is Air France's moving into the direct CH-UK markets from both GVA & ZRH ! April 10 to be exact if what I've heard is true.
So basically the shake-up is not yet over - QWatch this space and read the other threads such as this one or this one

Gofer whatever U can get

Talking Crew shortage?

Things must really be getting desperate as even I got a letter asking me if I want to join P!ss European!

Just imagine and daydream for a second: flying an antiquated AVRO and being a second class citizen again... And all that for a dazzling Sfr 63.000/year! How can anyone possibly refuse?

Ok folks, form an orderly queue right behind me, I don´t think this crewing shortage will last long.....no pushing now!

The competition is moving in fast and that will, after all, hurt everybody in Swiss, including the flying gods.

Is it right that most of the SWU pilots had their vacation "unconfirmed", read cancelled, until things get better??? If true, how can you expect things to improve ? If the company I work for, would cancel my vacation on top of giving me an unstable roster, max duty time, minimum layover time and minimum off days, I WOULD LEAVE ASAP, wouldn't you???
