I would agree, splitting the vote causes rumblings in the ranks, and removes the unity and strength that got them to the table to talk.

Whatever your thoughts are, saying nothing is handing power back to the management.

Yes or No,..... get voting

The futures bright, you shall be assimilated, resistance is futile

Today I hear that some members of the CC have been offered TRI courses by GB. Is there any truth in this? If it is true [which I am not saying, I am simply passing on hearsay], is it a bribe?

Confirmed...two members of the CC have been given TRI Courses...outrageous. They have also been appointed Chief Pilot and Director of Operations respectively....even more outrageous! I guess all their hardwork and commitment wasn't for the pilot workforce after all.

Seems there is a new squadron in town.

Please remove Sadly Cynical and Angus Meecoats posts attempting to damage GB CC's reputation at a time when sensitive negotiations are at a critical point. These allegations are without foundation and should be removed immediately please.

Jim,

Why remove the posts?

If they are incorrect the two posters above will look like idiots....
Yet if they are correct.....It will not be the first time members of the CC have branched into "management". Will it Nobby?

Oxidant

Many thanks. Totally agree with you. Change of heart.

Sadly Cynical and Angus, please ratify your source of information, otherwise you run the risk of being branded idiots just as Oxidant has said.

Oh Jim Kirk, please please tell me you didn't take my post seriously.
It seems you have no appreciation of irony.
Beam me up Scotty.

Well the ballot is back and predictably its sadly gone in favour of the offer put forward by the company and recommended by out CC.

Yes votes 82 No votes 68.

I expect they will be plenty of celebration down the pub this afternoon/evening at the successful forcing through of the Jubilee House move for no significant cost other than the effort of waiting for the pilot work force to deflate and defeat themselves. 92% in favour of industrial action becomes 55% in favour of accepting the compensation package.

And what a package it is. The inflation busting 4.9% pay rise (RPI currently running at 4.6-4.7%) to combat 'trust' issues, which is oddly similar to our standard contractual entitlement under the existing Tracker scheme, with the added bonus that this will be awarded as it always should on the 1st of April. So that's outstanding. Good work all round, it's always hard when you are fighting for something which is already a standard condition of employment within a company.

Standby call out time increased to 2 hrs along with 13 hours between duties, but only at the planning phase, otherwise this might actually have some impact.

Then there's the dilemma of choosing either 1 extra day a month Nov-Mar or 3 days leave in a block, but of course only in the winter and only until the new shiny SLD is out with all its fabulous lifestyle enhancing goodness sometime next year.

But by far and away the best bit, is a framework of planned discussions and 'focus groups' occurring throughout the year. The highlights of which include May's questionnaire & phone poll, July's eagerly awaited issuing of Fatigue Risk Reporting forms to the pilots and, my personal and most anticipated favourite, the publication of GB/BALPA pamphlet on sleep hygiene & fatigue management.
Now not being a expert in field of sleep hygiene I can't begin to imagine what this may contain, but would certainly be surprised if it didn't recommend against returning from a delayed Canaries flight at 0440am, walking for 15-20 minutes through a deserted airport terminal, going outside then inside again and back up stairs to checkout & confirm roster changes using an internet system based on a shared dial up connection, heading outside again to wait 15 minutes in the rain for a bus to return you to your car, and driving 40 minutes back home before getting into bed at around 0600am. Then enjoying your non op day before getting up the next morning at 0330am to get back to the car park in time for a 0445am checkin for a Palma. Now whilst this doesn't seem like the most hygienic way to sleep, I'll hold judgement until the document is published.

At least you can enjoy the most expensive coffee you'll probably ever purchase from the completely non subsidised cafe, whilst watching the BA & First Choice crews enjoying their pre-negotiated staff discounts on the same items before witnessing the canteen staff hilariously tap some poor Gypsy Air crew member £1.20 for a Mars bar.

But it is much bigger than the Beehive to allow for lots of future expansion. Oh no, hang on that's not quite right is it? I don't particularly recall having to brief standing up whilst guessing a fuel figure based on historical weather patterns as the Jepp system fails yet again to produce any met data,(but does very successfully manage to spew out 129 pages of garbled code from the admittedly very high speed printer), when we still checked in at the tiny Beehive premises.
And who really needs phone lines when you have some old Nokia handsets tethered to the desks and a tannoy system to remotely address the crew?

It's definitely progress alright.....thank god for the excellent compensation package.

Surely GB has more than 150 pilots in BALPA? If you don't vote, you don't get a say so presumably the vast majority of BALPA pilots in GB were happy with the deal and sat back to let others ratify it.

Not sure about the exact figures, but the current seniority list only shows 204 active line pilots so I don't know how high a BALPA membership you'd be expecting. The return rate was apparently 82% of the membership which, by my reckoning, would mean about 183 pilots are in BALPA.
Still it means nearly 90% of the workforce are in BALPA, 32-3 didn't bother voting, and just over half opted to accept. The views of the remaining non BALPA member pilots are obviously not reflected at all.

Perhaps you thought GB was a larger airline than it is?

I thought there would be more pilots than that, no wonder you're all working so hard!

So the company wins again.

The company talk about having talks and Balpa vote about whether to have another vote.
Sounds like industrial relations in the 60's.

Come on pilots in ALL companies, it's time to stand up and be counted. Managers in all companies are pushing terms and conditions down for everyone. Now if ALL pilots in ALL companies could get together then the future might not be orange.

Well Done GB pilots! You have just allowed yourselves to be sh#fted. I'm glad I retired 5yrs ago. Anyone thinking of joining GB, I would consider very carefully, as they are just the same as any other outfit at Gatwick. Look for the best "package " on offer, it doesn't look as though you'll get that at GB.

Well said Bflight, hows the fishing going?

Just heard that two members of the cc have resigned from GB. Not only have GB managers split the pilots they have managed to split the cc, well done BW.

Training Captains have recently voted themselves a 50% increase in training workload with no compensation, well done BW.

What next? I don't know why Nobby is leaving, anything GB managers want they seem to get, must be heaven to be a manager at GB.

Anyone like to comment from GB?
