Hi,
CatAir will be a low cost carrier owned by Iberia and 4 more companies (each with 20% of the shares) that will be based in BCN. Iberia's willing is to cancel most of their routes (probably all except the air shuttle with Madrid) from BCN and let CatAir fly them. They will start with 4 or 5 A320s (probably leased from Iberia) and they will increase their fleet to about 30 A320s during the first year. They also want to be in the stock market in 2 or 3 years. Operations are scheduled to start in October. It's also been said that they will be codesharing with Iberia some of their destinations. Their brand/commercial name will be "clickair.com" (altough this is not yet confirmed and some others brands such "airmediterranea" or "airmediterraneo" are beign discussed).
The routes cancelled will not affect Iberia's regional operator "Air Nostrum", at least in the first stages. In the beginning of all this are Iberia's plans to operate ONLY to/from their Madrid hub.

Keep calm !...there is already Ryanair, Vueling and Easyjet which is about to get a base in MAD, so if CATAIR is successful that much, it will be great, but I dont reckon so
..What about Air Nostrum which is now planing to get only CRJ 900s and leave the turboprop fleet to Denimair ? who will suffer more ? ANS or CATAIR ?

Probably their idea is to fly point-to-point services and let ANS fly the connecting ones, codesharing with Iberia for connections in the routes not operated by ANS. Personally, I think that flying connections is against LCC philosophy, but who knows.
About the 30 A320s during the first year, is what they are saying, I'm only a (mostly) happy passenger

Surely this start up operator is a quasi-political reflection of Catalan nationalism and the recent elections in favour of greater autonomy in that region?
I should think that if not now, then in the not too distant future, an ability to speak both Castilian and Catalan will be a requirement. Catalan is really rather difficult to master. I should hop on the bus fairly smartly if I were in the mind to do so.

Or how can we call a company how pays pilots with bananas?
"If you pay peanuts you will get monkeys" .. an old slogan from the
States.
They prefer to operate low cost with cockpit - salaries.
Can be a reason that month by month captains running away. Last time,
16 in one month!
As we all know there are some rumours in the air about CAT Air and
Vueling.
Is the attention of Vueling to make an illusion for all pilots that
Vueling is the new CAT Air?
Is this the last chance for Vueling to get pilots before the operation collapsed?
Vueling give you "7 reasons to become a Vueling pilot"
I can tell you one (1) not to do it!

VUELING gives you the opportunity to fly and get a paid job. Even if you are paid peanuts or bananas, you have a job!
I have applied with VUELING and I have been selected.It is still better than staying at home waiting for an airline like airfrance or BA to call you.
I am happy to be a VUELING pilot, and fly for one of the best low cost airline in Spain.
If airline captains are leaving, good for them, and good for the copilots looking for the left seat.
People at VUELING seem to be happy. Life in Madrid or Barcelona is great and spanish people are cool and educated!
at this time, the situation at VUELING is improving, and I would suggest you to book a trip with them before to judge them.They have one of the best service that a low cost can afford.(I like the candy they give before landing) .
Booking and boarding is easy(and tickets are cheap), cabin is clean, and the flight attendants are very nice.

I would suggest to all my friends and to my family to fly with VUELING.

I detect in dartagnan someone who is prodoundly grateful to Vueling for giving him his first jet job. Who can blame him? I felt the same once. Alas, as time goes by, dartagnan will realise that there are reasons that a relatively small company like Vueling lose 16 captains a month. However nice it may be to get candy before each flight, it does not change the fact that Vueling are a 2-bit flying operation taking advantage of the desperation of young pilots to fly. They are in the same category as Onur Air, Inter Air etc - rubbish employers who are a stepping stone to a slightly less rubbish employer. In the unfortunate event of their continued success, Vueling will no doubt be able to raise a glass to the likes of dartagnan, whose blnkered view of his new employers has made a few very people rich and him very poor.
Incidentally, I understand that their chief pilot has been making approaches to other LCC FOs and offering them Direct Entry Commands. From my understanding, a Vueling captain earns a similar amount to an easyJet SFO and, not surprisingly, not too many suckers have taken the poisoned bait. Awful as it is to admit, even working for Ryanair would seem positively attractive in comparison to working for these guys. Maybe Michael O'Leary is really a jolly nice chap after all.

Hi there,
what i mean is; you never will reach the the amount of salary written on the webpage.
as cpt, if you are the lucky one who will reach >90, at the end you have 4500 - 4800 € in your hand. that`s reality!
By the way without candies :-)
If you know how expensive MAD, BCN is, good luck to you.
The way how they looking for pilots, it`s like lure with sweets.
Pilots are only a simple tool to make money, not part of the company.
I tell you an example; a rated captain A320, 13.200 command hours was screened by CAE. after he passed the screening they wanted to charge him by 3000 € for the supervision / training during lineoperation.
Unbelievable!!! An affront for every pilot!
I remember times; it was a normal procedure after the selection process to get a type rating, today young pilots pay their type rating and from time to time like in turkey (Sky, MNG) the supervision time, calculated by 200 hours = 20.000 $
... and many many stories more.
In the past we made jokes like "will fly for food"
This was yesterday! Today some pilots pay money to airlines to have a job and get a bag of sweets.
