1000hrs multi crew TP,who'll have me?

Well, I have enough hours now to be forbidden to post in the wannabe section so i must be classed as an experienced pilot.

Funny thing is, I just cant get a jet job!!

Does anyone know who to target?

Ive already tried the main charter operators and the 'good' low cost operators, but i just cant get a sniff!

Should i join the muppets in the 'I paid for my own type rating' club? I reckon this is becoming the norm nowadays.........Or should i stick where i am and get my command and live with the fact that I'll never be paying for any of my TRs!!

All the best.

Well I guess i'm one of the muppets you mentioned, I had a command where I was and was very happy, now i'm flying a brand new Airbus and clear the best part of £3000 after tax. OK I may have earned more working as a Nigel but they didnt offer me a job.
Why did I decide to become a "muppet"
A guarantee of flying a jet, all going well I should be in the left seat in max 3 years.
By that time hopefully you will have the job of your dreams as a Nigel or perhaps flying for a charter, you may even be in the left seat after 6-10 years.
Good luck

What next?

Longchop, I have the same problem which is compounded by my age. I am in my mid 40's with only 2000 hours total half of which on commercial TP ops. 'Age commensurate with experience'...hardly. To get some job security and pay off flying debts and get a pension, I need to move before it is 'too late', but seem to be stuck while my younger 'less experienced' colleagues are getting jobs with Easy, Jet2, Netjets, Baby etc.

Anybody out there got any ideas (apart from gambling money I do not have on a SSTR)?

PS I do know guys flying TPs with hours and TR but still struggling to get interviews, so a TR is not a passport to a new job.

I know for a fact that Netjets will look at your CV and would not exclude you from being considerd for selection.

Passing the selection process will require some work and the right attitude.

Good luck.

Aces low
You could try DHL Air, although no vancancies at the moment they have looked at your age area before (because its likely you'll stay rather than a young wannabie, or young family type who may want to move on after 3 years)
Dont forget as of Nov 06 the new ageism law means age cannot be used as an excuse for not hiring

...I could throw the phone down

Thanks Mr Angry. As with racism, no sensible employer would overtly use age as a discriminator; but that doesn't mean that it doesn't happen. I take your point about being a 'solid bet' rather than a transient and will make enquiries. Thanks again.
