Tax question and CX

Hi guys,

I have a question for the european based CX pilots.

Do you guys pay tax in homebase or in HKG?
And if you do pay tax, is there any compensations regarding the base you choose/get? I mean, if I am not mistaken a pilot under the french tax regme pays 16% tax while a UK based pilot pays about 40% tax....

It is possible that CX has a special tax agreement with the diferent authorities....I have no clue

How does this work and what are the exact tax scales/base?

Thanks a lot for the help,

SD

Re: Tax question and CX

Hong Kong companies have no interest in your tax affairs. They pay you in Hong Kong and as a result you will be liable for Hong Kong tax on your income. You get a bill at the end of the year and you pay it.

As for the tax rules for your chosen domicile, that is up to you to declare as required by the laws of that country, the company is not interested.

Okay, let me rephrase the question then.

when flying for CX based in an outstation, are you allowed to have a domicile in HKG or not?

How are you guys doing this?

C'mon, whats the big secret here?

Re: Tax question and CX

you have to tax any income in europe, there is no double tax agreement with h.k.( you have to pay the difference between the tax of your residence country and the hong kong tax on top of the hong kong tax if the tax rate at your residence is higher, which is highly likely)

it is not possible for based crew to get a residence visa in h.k.

it really comes down to your choice of residence and the associated tax rate, many guys moved away from high tax countries for that reason, austria e.g. is not bad.the pay scale is not really designed for any further tax after hong kong took it's share

Re: Tax question and CX

Discuss tax matters somewhere else, but not in this forum!
Pilots (unfortunately not everyone!) should be smart enough to be aware of that!
