Hi people,
I am a KLM Captain with almost 20.000 hours total about to retire from KLM. I need to keep on flying until 60.
I was dismissed at CAL, KAL, SIA and Asiana because of the 4x bypasses I had a long time ago. I still have a class I medical and still fly as Commander B744 at KLM for the coming months before retiring.
I am lloking for a job as B744 Captain in any outfilt which will accept my medical history. That is to say any operator using JAA medicals.
It can be Cargo or pax..Whatever will be available.
Anybody can help?

Dear Lio2850
Try to go through some of the contract agencies websites, you might get lucky there. For many if not all Asian carriers your medical history is disqualifying. Air Atlanta Icelandic was hiring 744 pilots early this year, they might be worth giving a ring. All the best.

Lion,
my airline, AAI has been looking for experienced B744 skippers.
I will try and find out if this is still the case.
nog veel vliegplezier die laatste maanden bij de "koninklijke"!
tarik123,
Are you also looking for B737 experienced First officers? AAI is getting rid of them, as most of the contract pilots (including me)

Try IAC Global - Air China Cargo looking for type rated Captains for immediate start based in Beijing/Shanghai - not sure if the deal would allow you to commute.
Tarik - dream on. The days of anyone paying for a type rating are over.....and in the Middle East to boot?

Lion / despegue,
AAI have recently "let go" thirteen 744 pilots as they have reduced the passenger fleet at Madrid by sending one airframe to be converted to a freighter. Sorry, but I don't think they're an option right now.

There are some ex KLM guys with me on B744 at SIA Cargo. Not sure about your medical situation but the job is great. PM me if you would like contact details. We are recruiting.

Lion.
Your situ highlights how out of touch the asian carriers are, regarding medicals if JARS allows, why not them??
Same kit?
Until they join the real world, you could give GF,EY and EK a go alloperate hope under JARs,you should be OK there, but you will need a type rating/bond.Failing this Cargolux/Atlas??
Best of luck,QB

Real world
All these Far East operators are on the same line and, as you said, outside the real world. Until they awake to reality they will loose quite a lot of good pilots...
As far as Cargolux...Very strange..They are difficult to reach via Internet. Finally sent a CV and received a negative letter without any explication why I was not admissible to them...Very strange!
Rest of the world is not hiring B744 DE Captains at the moment. Etihad is searching for B777 DE Captains, but I do not have the TR.
Air Atlanta is not hiring at the moment, nor the Japaneses at ANA Cargo. The USA is a dificult market at this moment, as everybody knows.
I would be accepting a bonding for a A330,340 or whatever is available at this point. I really thought that with 20.000 hours total time and 8.500 on the B744 as Commander it would be easy to find a job...

You must have looked in the wrong place. I've just checked and Parc are still advertising for 744 captains for a 2 to 5 year contract in Asia. www.parc-group.com jobsearch / flightcrew positions / page 2

Dan,point is the Asian carriers all use the same post surgical disqualication after cardiac bypass. This is frankly, outdated and already established as "questionable",if eyesight were not allowed to be "corrected" then there would be few Class1 in Asia.
Lion your heart has been "corrected" to an acceptable level and eventually the Asian carriers may well bow to science but that may well be beyond your career.
The exception may be with Japan and HK so perhaps CX and KA Cargo might be worth a go,if not you may have to take a bond onto 777 330/340.
JARs medical requirement criteria allow you to fly now,and FAR in the USA is the same,if you are stable and pass the mandatory post bypass tests inc ECG/ultrasound and treadmill-stress ECG if required I see no reason you should not continue providing you pass the tests and meet the standard.
Stay with JARs compliant med regs, carriers IMHO and take the TR/bond your 20K hours will be highly desired in EK/EY/QR/GF and others.Good luck.QB
