Germans working at UK Airlines
Hello Chaps
Stupid question, are there many Germans working at UK Airlines ? I am asking because I have never meet or heard about any, was just wondering if there any issues with German Pilots ?

The reason I ask it that I was born in Germany and educated in the UK, now starting my ATPL Course and had the impression that maybe I would be at a disadvantage wanting to fly in the UK....that all really.

Primary point: JAR-Licence/EU passport opens job opportunities for all european airlines. Donīt be worried because born in Germany!
Second: it is definitly no advantage to be a german working in an UK airline

When Thomsonfly started out of CVT on the 737s didnt they have a fair few German crew operating, as Britannia didnt have many type rated guys? Not sure what the situation is now...

Thomsonfly/Britannia definitely employs German pilots (and from elsewhere)
Also a few years ago, a "Britannia Germany" was started and when the company went through some serious restructuration (ie they closed down the German wing), pilots were offered to join Britannia UK.
In fact they still have that option as their seniority is protected so potentially, there is about 20 guys who could re join as they wish.

I saw loads of German crews at Heathrow the other day, just stepped off a Lufthansa jet
Seriously, I was born in Germany and fly in the UK. Vorsprung durch technic. There is also a good side to being able to speak a foreign language, so keep that up!
Good luck
p.s. It throws German ATC a little when you reply in German from a UK aircraft!!!
