Hi

Just looking for a heads up on Easy Belfast postings.
I have currently 9000ish hours, half military and half global widebody, approx 2000 LHS. What are conditions like at Belfast?
What are the rosters like? Is morale good? Time to command or chances of direct entry command? Chances of getting a Belfast slot?
Present job Sucks (too much jetlag) and I am looking to return to the motherland.

Time to command is roughly 2 years from joining. You need two good sim checks (1 year) andthen be nominated. From being nominated to getting out on the line it seems to be about a year.

There's a back log of about 80 people waiting for commands at the moment.

BFS is pretty easy to get as not many people want to live there. Over time it will fill up and then become "dead mans shoes". At the moment though chances of getting a command there are pretty good.

Direct entry command is unlikely unless you've something the management can't do without.

However a year is a long time in eJ and you may be propelled into command quicker!

And, unfortunatley, even with your experience you will probably have to come in via TRSS.

TRSS seems a bit of a balls ache, should have read the small print.
Any comments on morale and working conditions out of Belfast? Are they getting Airbus?

you won't be TRSS, they're starting to offer DEP again and with your experience you should fit that bill. I hear BFS is getting popular though. Quite a few Ryanair guys are sniffing around Orangeland with a view to jumping across the border if they don't get what they want in Dublin. (Out of the frying pan, into the fire as they say!)

Didn't know (but am not suprised!) that they are going back to DEP. They were building a nice little experience gap that was going to bite them in a couple of years.

I fly out of BFS quite regularly as thay are short of Captains (I'm LPL based) and it always seems a happy base. Some very early starts and a few to many 6 sector days, but the folks are nice, base manager seems a good type and it's all 700s.

Certainly if you particularly want to be based in N/Ireland I can't think of a better solution. I think you'd have easy in preference to jet2, which is, I think, the only other operator with a base there.

I'm based there. Its a real friendly base, loads of banter and a good place to operate in and out of. There's an army of SFO's wanting commands there though so if you fancy it you had better apply pronto. The base could probably grow bigger in the same vein as Newcastle, Liverpool or Bristol. There is a built in domestic demand due to the Irish Sea.. Its comforting working at the UK's most secure international airport. Plus house prices are fantastic (in the RIGHT way).

What requirements do you need to qualify for DEP entry? I would be interested but the TRSS is a joke. Pay them money, reduced salary and have to do an advanced handling course? Err, no thanks.

I'm currently with eJ and am being nagged by the other half to move to BFS when command comes around.

Is there a waiting list for transfers to BFS?

Any planned expansion?

Would love to apply today however, things changing in present job and it is in my own best interest to stay another 6 months. Will definitly apply after that period. Hopefully jobs will still be available at Belfast. Been away from home for tooooo long.

There is a waiting list to get out of Belfast so anyone wanting to get there now would be happy. This will change as a raft of local FO's get their awaited Command courses. Future expansion would again see the base needing more crew if that happens. Yes I am left seat there now.

hi...am heading bfs way soon..looking forward to it.. just wondering would anyone tell me what is normal take home pay monthly ex bfs for sfo..i know some of the sectors are longer so thought sector pay could be bit higher..fingers crossed thanks !!

thks lemon.. am non trss...that pay is not great particularly since it does not include pension but then no-one put a gun to my head...well not physically anyway but thats for another days conversation!...presumably the gap between sfo and cpt salary must be big or is it ? cos if the cpt salary are that poor why is anyone working there ?

Well if u have a busy month you can get that up to maybe 3200 or 3300. Capt take home varies also depending on sectors but is about 4500 a month.

Daithi - where you working at the moment that the pay is so good? Ryanair?
