Company Transport

I know most new airlines do not offer company transport to and from the airport anymore, however some still do, and mine happens to be one of them...... for now!

Our management have, out of the blue, (along with many other sinister conditions I will not go into here), unilatelally decided to terminate this service, with nothing offered in return. Not even a car park at the airport, but one a couple of kilometers away, requiring 'park and ride'. May I add that no public transport exists between 9pm and 6 am, which are 'rush hour' timings for us.

Our terms and conditions have been totally eroded year after year, and this is about the only 'perk' we have left, and we are determined to hang onto it.

One of the reasons they site is that ."There is only one other airline in the world that offers this service - Emirates". . I find this hard to believe and I have heard that Meridiana offers transport, and Alitalia offers transport in Milan, but I am sure that there are many other companies that still offer this service contractually.

I would really like to hear of other companies that offer company transport.

A cabin crew friend of mine working for Air France, told me that after 10 pm and before a certain time in the morning (which I have forgotten), the company provides a taxi to home.
Not quite sure what the gen is on that but it made her ride a lot safer than using some dodgy tube running late at night.

Royal Brunei Airlines used to provide a personal "Transport Allowance" of 260$ a month and there was free parking for all at the airport. The allowance has been withdrawn and we are now charged for parking.

I guess we should be grateful for our first pay rise (2.75% on basic - worth about 1.4% in reality) in the history of the airline. I am now earning almost as much as when I joined 8 years ago.

Be patient, the pendulum is slowly swinging back.

Alitalia, Alitalia Express they still do. It's up yo each crew member. If you don't take it you get the money and or car park if you like. For people that commute (a lot in my company) they get car park in the airport from where they commute and still get the money (not much) for not using the service.

Regards

Emirates offers all its employees free transport to and from work, Pilots get a limo which picks them and drops them to the door, Cabin Crew same deal but a minibus to their apt/office, all other ground staff get seat in coach from and to their accomadaitons.

Ps all dry cleaning of uniforms is free for all at convenient locations at the office at the airport briefing and at some accom buildings.

Add all this up and u can see why EK offers a good package.

.
QF supply transport dependant on a number of factors
-early / late sign-on or sign-off (B4 7am, after 9pm)
-Long (>14hrs) tour of duty
-As part of a pattern , if you deadhead into base port in business class (QF tech crew have a contractual requirement to deadhead first class where avbl)
The agreed transport area is within about 60km of YSSY.
The first 2 are quite valid from a safety point, the last was a trade off via a recent EBA (enterprise bargaining agreement i.e. industrial negotiation in Oz.)
