Cabin brief in emergency.
Scenarion; You have had an engine failure in early climb. No fire, just a straight flame out (no relight).
You are turning back to departure field to do a SE ILS with reduced flap per SOPs.
The runway is 10,000' long and performance is not a problem.
You are going to brief the no.1 CCM for the approach.
Do you tell him/her to do a full brace/evac brief, or simply a 'heads up' type brief.
What is your company SOP?

Precautionary breifing only...no need to muddy the waters any more than necessary.
I say this because...in 1984 SV had just such a scenario with a B737, and the rear cabin hostie started an evac all on her own, without any news from the flight deck. Better to keep them in the loop so as to avoid "problems".

Here is a really simple way that we look at these scenarios. Do you think that you will all walk away, then precautionary. If you have some very good reason to think you will not walk away, emergency.
Here is a neat brief for the Cabin Manager;
N - Nature of emergency/problem
I - Intentions (eg circle back to land)
T - Time remaining/estimated til landing
S - Special considerations (numerous)
It works for me.
