King Air Generally hasn't had a bad record to date. That deep wing stays quite clean. The French type also gave some warning, loss of airspeed ,aileron movement with the Autopilot on.
If you start to 'load up'change Alt'(get out of the layer),and 'hand fly to 'feel' how it handles....
Cheers
Ps.don't forget the tailplane though give the deicing boots a'good shot before approach to avoid a stall ,'bug'up the airspeed and don't use 'full flap(don't blank out the elevator)

From: MIRSI hold - give or take...
- Bug up the ASI
- Don't use full flap
Agree, however only if followed immediately by:
- Increased LDA required
- Use of ice vanes, giving you...
- Decreased limiting mass for approach climb
Icing in clouds is not uncommon to go along with icing on the ground, so make sure you don't use the tricks without doing the thinking to go aloing with them.
Enjoy - they handle beatifully, even in icing - and they can stand a lot of it before getting in trouble.

The EMB110 Bandeirante had problems with tailplane icing - if tailplane icing was "suspected" on approach, it was forbidden to use the final stage of flap. I seem to recall that there was no advice given on what would make you suspect tailplane icing when the rest of the fuselage was (apparently) clear.

Your quite right 4 crashes I know of due 'tailplane 'Icing in the viscount. When they put down 'landing'flapblanked out tail stalled aircraft dived into the ground, read of it happening with a 'seaboard'DC4 also.
