B787 Newbie Question

Hello,
I'm starting my 787 typerating in a few days and presently I'm preparing as much as I can. Going through the Memory Items I do have a question - doing the Severe Damage Memory Items, who is doing A/T arm switch ......confirm...OFF. From many years ago on the 757, 767 and 747 I thought it was always switched OFF by the PM/PNF but I got told that on the B787 according area of responsibility it is a PF item ?

Could somebody flying the 787 explain that point to me - thanks in advance.

The FCOM says the A/T ARM switches are in PF area of responsibility. The QRH NNC instructions state memory items are completed by the persons area of responsibility. So in this case the PF would action the A/T ARM switch to OFF once the PM had confirmed it is the correct switch.

That's not universal and depends on your operator -- one, for instance, says:

PM will carry out all the memory item actions including movement of the autothrottle arm switches, thrust lever, fuel control switch and fire handle - all with confirmation from the PF.
OP -- this is something you'll need to confirm in your own FCOM/FCTM.

There are quite a few nuances with the 787 particularly in non normal handling. The other one is who retards the "bad side" thrust lever? On the 737 at my op it was PM/PNF .. on the 787 at my new op it's the PF.

You cannot copy and paste the logic from the 737, so I imagine it's the same for the 757/767. Add in your own operator's nuances and you'd be best off making a note of these questions to ask the instructors once you begin.

If you already have access to the manuals and study documents it should be explained there but otherwise wait to ask - we all work for different operators and they've all got different things certified so you cannot take anything on here to be how you are supposed to operate your type in your airline.
