737 Fuel Gauge

Does anyone know if the "dashed lines" on the 737 fuel gauge show or refer to a quantity or something else?
With the wing tanks full, the white line fills to the end of the last line.
Like in my car, one bar of petrol represents about 90 miles. Do the lines represent something similar?

It’s an analogue indication of tank contents as a percentage, each line indicating 10%. The picture you posted shows both tanks at approximately 62% full. It is easier to get a quick idea of contents with a glance on an analogue gauge rather than a trying to digest exact figures.
