JFK D-ATIS

Hello Folks,
so we are not able to receive D-ATIS in any US airports, more specifically JFK. Equipment is B787. Anyone knows why, or is there a different way to do this other than “request ATIS on CPDLC using KJFK”.

much appreciated

Is it only on one airplane or all of them? Do you have a WX REQ feature on your ATSU (or whatever that system is called in your case)?

The most likely reason is that your company did not set this up with your Data Service Provider. Some DSP have settings that allow/restrict you from requesting ATIS from specified regions. For instance, a European short haul carrier may have restricted ATIS requests from regions where they do not fly.

Further, your ATIS is requested from your FLIGHT INFORMATION menu. This is via ACARS, not CPDLC. ATIS is not requested via CPDLC.

Mildly amusing - at least to me - until the end of last year I flew CRJs for a US carrier. When bored I'd request the ATIS for Aberdeen and other Scottish airports I used to fly to when I worked for Loganair.
