A-321 Neo Etops Certification

Have heard that the Neo engines are having problems with getting Etops certified due to reliabiliity issiues, Anyone have any info about this?

Heard the Pratt's and GE"s both have had issues.

Did they get the GTF engines to stop blowing up yet? The first major ETOPS routes planned for the GTF-equipped 321NEO (CEPAC Hawaii - West Coast USA) are some of the thinnest-margin "just barely 180" ETOPS routes out there. Some very competent people putting that program together, but not a lot of room for error.

I'm sure that, just like the 787 with it's lading gear issues and battery fires in the beginning, the 321 NEO will be a wonderful ETOPS airplane after the debug phase is finished. In the meantime..... We shall see.

I don't know about the NEO engine configured A321, but American is currently using the standard A321 in ETOPS on the H version. The H version is simply a company nose number designated for Hawaii flying. American is currently flying LAX -HNL in the A321H designation.

The H is added to alert maintainers that this aircraft is to be maintained under ETOPS standards. So far operations have been normal, except for the occasional weirdo trying to break onto the flight deck.
