Partial spoiler deployment

Phased Lift Dumping and Partial Spoiler Extension.

I thought that Airbus changed the name to the first one. However I am not sure if this is the case.

There are some differences in the deployment conditions.

But is it there any other difference other than that?

Initially spoilers only deployed when both oleos were compressed. That was responsible for a runway excursion. So it was modified to give partial deployment with one oleo compression.

Vilas, wasn't it also as a result of an Iberia landing incident at A Corunia -not sure of the spelling?

We have aircrafts in the fleet having the one system and other aircrafts having the other one. But both are with partial deployment. I see no difference. Only the wording.

I think there is no difference. PLD is a new term because I see it in CEOs only. Anyway the Warsaw accident was way too old. This change is relatively new.

I think you are talking about installation of SEC standard120. You can read it in Airbus safety Magazine issue9 FEB2010. The logic of spoiler extension was made tolerant to inappropriate speed brake/thrust lever combination.
