What is the rule of thumb to determine trim wheel setting on A320 with the TOCG?

I am aware that I can do this with the trim wheel but this is just out of curiosity.

Why use a rule of thumb if there are two trim wheels with the scale and additionally at least two QRH with the same scale on the back?
