Kangerlussuaq BGSF visual for 27

I've been looking at how to fly the BGSF 27 visual. All the charts have scant info on how to fly this. Trying it in the simulator a 30 sec 45 degree turn to position downwind seems to put us about 1nm out on downwind. The base turn seemed to then need a full on 30 degree bank turn (to remain south of the hill) with a continuous 4 degree descent path from abeam the landing threshold at 2000ft.

Do any Greenland specialists with experience of this approach have any views. I am hoping to get some guidance that will help myself and other fly this challenging approach with confidence.

Thoughts?

My thoughts are:

1. Wind is generally a light katabatic flow off the icecap, from the east.
2. Therefore the majority of occasions favours a LOC to 09.
3. If the wind is strong from the west, the weather is probably going to be bad. Low clouds and poor vis from the Davis Strait.
4. In these conditions, circling would be very difficult, if not impossible.
5. So I would rather land with a 20kt tailwind on 09. It's uphill for the first 1000m and long enough for most conceivable circumstances.
6. Might be outside the parameters of the performance manual, but much safer than trying to circle for 27.
7. I've only visited SFJ about 10 times so stand to be corrected by those with more experience. I only circled for 27 once and that was in a light twin in good VMC.
8. I think circling for 27 in a jet transport should be left to Air Greenland and others with extensive local knowledge.

A truer word said...let air Greenland do rwy 27 to their hearts content. There's only one reason your going into BGSF and that is you are in the sh!t and need to land ASAP......then try and do a sporty visual to 27 ....no thanks..........the base turn is lethal.

Set yourself up to follow the river for a slant final to 27 perhaps.
