The pic you have uploaded was one I made during the Phase 3 search, and has got no bearing on the current Recovery Operation Position (ROP).
I'll go and have a look through my database and give you the exact date shortly.
EDIT :: You will note that the circle drawn comprises the area the BEA said they were going to originally search and is centered on the NAVAREA V Nav Warning issued by the Brazilian Military. In actual fact, it bore little resemblance to the area that was searched.

The French Government owns 15% of EADS shares (same as Daimler).
49.15% of the shares are free float.
France owns a hefty piece of ABI, and the BEA is a division of the Government, how could anything go sour??

I think that is the point RR_NDB wants to bring forward :
If the recorders have their own independent power supply, they will keep recording.
If the recorders have their own independent power supply, they will keep recording.
Sure, you can verify that any specific data was missing, but if the data cannot be generated or transferred, it cannot be recorded. If you loose all power on a modern aircraft there is nothing left to record if you do not create a completely independent array of sensors powered equally independently
I don't really understand this fuss about independent power supply.
First: From a flight safety viewpoint, surely the most important data the FDR/CVR can provide is why the main electrical power supply/supplies failed? Any subsequent loss of control or a/c gyrations are likely to be a consequence, not a primary accident cause. And that all-important pre-power-failure data is in all likelihood already recorded by current recording systems.
Second: Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe flight recorders are already now powered by a redundant power supply system ("essential bus" or equivalent).
I realize there is a case for an independent recorder power supply. It would help the recording e.g. in situations where the aircraft's main electrical power supply systems go into cyclic restart situations or other nasty states. However, an independent power supply brings its own troubles such as increased maintenance and the risk of failure of the independent power supply (for example, I've had my PC harddisks fried when the PC power supply failed, allowing overvoltage to reach the harddisks). Will the benefits outweigh the costs?
Would there be any value in scattering a few extra pingers around the airframe? There'd be no guarantee, of course, that any that worked would end up in the vicinity of the recorders. But even ones far from the recorders would likely be near something worth recovering.

Hi,
Not a problem .. voltage surge protection is available and can also be used for black boxes.
I suggest you install one .. or you will lost another hard disk if another voltage surge
If the voltage surge is the result of lightning ... the protection will be useless ...

recovery of bodies
This I found on the Airliners.net to day.
AF447:After The Boxes,The Bodies — Civil Aviation Forum | Airliners.net
Is that correct ?? or is the recovery of more parts containing stored data still going on ?

Anyway my point was that also independent power supplies do sometimes fail.

A first body has been raised
At about 11h15 French time 09h15z a first body has been raised on board the "Ile de Sein"
There will be an attempt to raise about 10 bodies from now on. The decision was taken by the French Authorities and will be conducted by the Gendarmerie.
French Navy vessel "La Capricieuse " will take the 'boxes" to Cayenne. I think she is already on her way via a port in Brazil for refueling.

Chris Scott asked
Le Figaro - France : AF 447 : les corps seront repchs d'ici 48 heures
Le Figaro - France : AF*447*: la boîte noire parlera d'ici à fin mai
The announcement of the recovery of the first body was made on a French Radio some minutes ago.
I have read earlier on this forum or elsewhere, I cannot remember now, that, inside the cockpit, a body has been seen. I think that the authorities might try to recover the cockpit with a body(ies) inside it, or may be they will try to extract the defunct(s) before raising the cockpit.
I'm considering a translation (excerpt) of both articles soon.
Edit: The body raised to the surface was still attached to the seat.
Can you disclose your source of info, please?

Mer et Marine : Toute l'actualité maritime
Does this say something about the current state of the French Navy that it could not spare a frigate for this phase of the operation, so the government has to rely on a Marine Nationale (Coast Guard) patrol boat that apparently has insufficient range to reach the site without refueling in Brazil?
If they are only going to recover ten bodies at this point, may be that is the capacity of La Capricieuse.

The weekly Nouvel Observateur adds that the human remains will be transported next week together with the recorders, to determine whether identification by DNA is possible:
