Jet Pumps in outer tank
You mention the "outer and surge tank surge tank scavenge jet pumps"
I have seen a schematic from the TSM. Just elaborating on the jet pumps and a couple of questions.
There are two jet pumps in each outer tank powered from the main tank fuel pumps. The 'motive flow' through (powering) these jet pumps is at the rate of approx 450 kg/hr. So there is a constant 'circulation' from the main tank to the outer tank at this flow rate. If the outer tank is full the fuel 'spills' to the main tank. If the outer tank isn't full for some reason, (refueled on batteries, fuel uplift between ICTV's closing when low level sensor becomes 'wet' insufficient to fill outers), this flow will fill the outer tanks. This happens whenever the fuel pumps are running and is independent of IDG recirc which only occurs with the engines running.
The question I have is what is the purpose of these two jet pumps. One is to scavenge the surge tank, and keep it dry. You infer the other is to scavenge the outer tank? Is this to scavenge fuel 'below' the ICTV's in the outer tank?
A separate question. Are there any other 'scavenge' jet pumps on the 320, Centre tank, water scavenge pumps main tanks??
