707 Gear Lever Stuck In Off Position

Has anyone ever had or heard of a 707 or similar Boeing type gear lever getting stuck in the OFF position. Thus unable to move the gear lever to the DOWN position from OFF.
If anyone has had any experiances of this and knows a likely cause please chip in, or feel free to speculate.

With 6500 hrs in 707, and 2000 in 727 (same gear system) never had that problem.
Are the gear lights showing any greens/red...?
Many moons have passed since I flew them, but would try to move lever UP/DN.
If that does not work, pull the trigger while doing same UP/DN.
Also be sure hydraulic pressure is OFF (zero psi) then extend gear manually.
Then again try to re-position lever to DN...
Used to teach 707 classroom/simulator... Never had that situation.
Curious if anyone comes with an idea...

Happy contrails

The problem I faced was as follows

Gear stuck in OFF position. - physically unable to move to up or down, although would pull out normally.
Hyd quantity and pressure normal
all weight on wheels switches in air mode
gear lever solenoid powered i.e. not in the way of moving gear up.

It was simply jammed at OFF.

Just wondering if any engineer types have ever conme across this one.

Sounds to me as if the lever mechanism has failed, and the
lever release is just not responding to the trigger inputs into
the mechanism.
Try dropping the panel to see if the little release pawl shows
any sign of movement when the trigger is pressed.
Might need a new,( Overhauled ) assembly.
ie. It's just plain Knackered! And broken internally.
Had a similar problem years ago. But that was a DC-8.

Could be a frozen gear selector valve in the weel well, since its directly connected by cables to your lever.
Did it happen after a long flight? Was the lever moveable after some time again?

Gear Lever Probs

I recall B757 incident (BA in early years of ops) had a gear lever detach completely in pilot's hand and this with gear selected up!!! This of course meant gear was pressurised up and alternate gear extension not possible as system should be depressrised to allow freefall. Simply switching pumps off wouldn't help as "up pressure" was trapped in line.

Seem to recall crew in coversation with their engs and Boeing in Seattle came up with a fix involving manipulation of hyd systems to allow extension.. A procedure appeared in the QRH and remained for a few years. Guess permanent fix for "detachable gear levers" removed the need for procedures.
