Fmc Cdu Loc Capture Active
I have sometimes obsevered the message "LOC CAPTURE ACTIVE" on the CDU of a B737, or something very similar, as the aircraft is intercepting the ILS. Unable to find any reference to this message. Can any one explain when this message would be displayed and what the fmc would be commanding when in LNAV. Cheers tete

Happens when intercepting the Loc in LNAV. Is only mentioned in the 'FMC Messages' section of the FCOM, so I don't know what the capture criteria are. Had a look on B737.org.uk but found no additional information there.
LOC CAP ACTIVE
CAUSE
The airplane is approaching its turn onto the localizer or GLS course and will maintain an intercept heading.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Clear the message manually, or wait for the AFDS to signal reset status to the FMC.

I'm going to look more into iit on my flight tomorrow. I was wondering the same thing. From what I read initially I think it means for all intents and purposes the aircract has reverted from LNAV to heading select (without any changes to the FMA). The last time I saw the message was just before the LNAV didn't lead the turn and we blew through the loc. Fcuk I miss my Airbus.
