Robinson 22 Governor
Hello guys,
I'm an Italian trainee helicopter pilot, still flying with the R22 Beta II, somebody of you can please give me some more informations about the Governor System Basical Concept and anyone can please let me understand the differences between a Governor like that and a FADEC operating on most Turbine Powered Helicopters?

Mechanical governors often work on a relatively simple centrifugal flyweight and cam system: A set of weights spinning on the shaft are attached via cams to the control unit (e.g., throttle or blade pitch controller). When the shaft spins faster, the throttle/controller adjusts to decrease the speed.
A FADEC uses a computer program and digital inputs from many sources to maintain the engine at the desired parameters. Signals are sent to the fuel controller many times per second to adjust fuel delivery as needed. Other adjustments may also be controlled by the FADEC, such as Inlet Guide Vanes, bleed valves, or prop/blade pitch (turboprops/helos).

The governor sensing engine RPM changes and applies corrective force directly on the throttle. The inputs to the throttle are through a friction clutch which can be easily overridden by the pilot. The governor only works above 80% RPM.
Straight from the flight manual page 7-17, you should read the Pilot Operating Manual to become more family with the systems in the R22.

Thanks for information.
I know the operational procedures for the Governor of RH22, I have flown about 15 hours on this type of helicopter.
I will check on the operating manual some information about.
