Hi. I am currently doing a university project on the incident that affected G-BNLG on 20/2/2005 where number 2 engine surged on climbout. One of the reasons for this was excessive wear of the birdmouth feature which joins the HPC and IPC casings. I was just wondering if anyone knows how maintenance crews cehck this feature for wear, and if they are aware of any regulation changes following this incident.

boro/red fafc
it can be measured by using ,what is called a red fafc which will increase fuel flow by either 15% or 45%.engine is then run to 1.48 epr and if she goes boom then the clearances are no good ,i mean by boom surge
