Anyone know where i can find more about the features/differences of/between a CAT A/B/C/D simulator.

Dunno which keyword to google. Always come up with what i dont want.

contains a link to details on the requirements for JAR STD 1A level A,B,C and D 'simulators'. There's a summary table on page 12.

For the FAA version, you should be able to go to www.faa.gov, go to the current list of advisory circulars and check out AC 120-40B:

which is the FAAs guidance for sim qualification. The rules are fairly similar, though, as you'd expect.

They have links to Advisory Circulars, Guidance Bulletins, FAQs, and some information on the qualification process for flight simulation training devices.
