A320 Sim Ride
Hello,
Have an A320 sim ride coming up with KA this Friday and was in need of some advice regarding pitch and power settings for the approach.
I have the settings for decelerating the aircraft in level flight to green dot speed at 60 tonnes, and further configuration prior to the final approach point. What would the power and pitch be after intercepting the glideslope for the approach. The weight is 60 tonnes and the Vref is 135kts with a calm wind and ISA conditions.

Assuming you are doing this Sim ride as part of an interview, when you do some work about the A320, you might discover there are 2 engine types....
And since one engine is ref to EPR and one to N1, those who might be able to answer your qu are better placed if you let us know which one you are after

At that weight about 56-58% N1 should work as a ball park on either engine type (IAE or CFM). I never fly an approach on EPR. Not sure about pitch attitudes of the top of my head though, I just flew whatever gave me the right RoD on the VSI, which was about 2.5 - 5 degrees nose up I think.

Following figures work fine for me on every approach (A320 CFM engines):
Pitch (Conf FULL): 2.5-3°, Power GW-3% (so in your case with a GW of 60 it would be ~ 57%).
Just looked up the Pitch/Powersettings we tested and flew during my typerating to learn how the A320 behaves:
Level Flight (GW 59.0t):
340kt; 0-1°; GW+14%
250kt; ~3°; GW+3%
Green Dot; ~5°; GW%
S-Speed (Conf 1); ~7.5°; GW+3%
F-Speed (Conf 2); ~7.5°; GW+3%
On Glide Slope:
160kt (Conf 2); ~2.5°; 40%
Final Speed (Conf 3); ~4-5°; GW-5%
Final Speed Conf FULL); ~2.5-3°; GW-3%
Milage for Decelaration
340-250kt; ~7NM
250-Green Dot; ~4NM
Green Dot- S-Speed; ~1-1.5NM
Always keep in mind, these are ball park figures. Although they usually work out fine, you have to adjust to the situation (like wind).

Thanks for the response guys. I have done my research on the A320 Nigel and know that KA use IAE 2500V5s, however am doing my sim ride at GECAT so am not sure what they refernce it to.

They do have V2500, the sim can be setup for CFM or V2500 in most cases, they are just computer models.
Just some other numbers I have used ...
Level
Conf 1 - 7 deg
Conf 1+F - 5 deg
Conf 2 - 9 deg
Conf full - 6.5 deg
3 deg approach
Conf 1+F - 4 deg
Conf 2 - 6 deg
Conf 3 - 5
Conf full - 3.3 deg (just set the littlke yellow box so the bottom side sits on the 2.5 deg mark)
Takeoff 15 deg two engine
Take s/e 12.5 deg
Dont think they would make you do manual thrust, if they do use the IAS trend vector as a guide when to add/remove power.

Without going into the tech details , my advice to you is if your going for a checkride then , when your established on the ILS if your in IMC follow your FD's like no other, if your visual keep your ROD at 700 fpm and that should give you a kisser ...... this will work for weights anywhere between 59 upto 64 tons . for now I suggest you forget about the power bit cause thats what the fadec and the autothrust are there for .

Going onto the 320/1 soon after yrs on the 734/5....quick ? glide slope intercept at 2000....at what distance should I be level at 2000 at 340kts to be stabilized at conf 2 on glide intercept? 17dme? it was 15 on the 73..
