744 Cabin Door AUTO/MANUAL Annunciation

According to the Boeing MM, on those 744's with a Doors Synoptic which shows slide arm status, there are also three associated EICAS Memo messages. DOORS AUTO (all doors armed), DOORS AUTO/MANUAL (some doors armed, others not) and DOORS MANUAL (all doors disarmed).

On two different aircraft (same British-based airline) I noticed last week that the U/D doors failed to generate the "DOORS AUTO/MANUAL" message (British-based airline). i.e. with all doors disarmed except the U/D doors on the ground, there was no memo message. I didn't have the opportunity to check the main deck doors.

I assumed that because both aircraft behaved the same way that some kind of modification had been carried out. Since the system gave the ALL doors armed and ALL disarmed annunciations and the Synoptic was showing a change of state from M to A at the U/D doors, I wasn't overly concerned.

Is anyone aware of any modifications to this system? (and if so, for what purpose)

Thanks.
Rgds.
