BN2, are you refering in general to carby icing can cause accidents? Or inferring that the PA44 is injected & even so sufferred an intake icing problem? It's a carby engine, hence why I was wondering...

Can't remember if Pa44 is fuel-injected, but the report did state
"induction-icing", would imagine they would mention carb- ice if that was the case.
With fuel-injected systems the main danger would be obstruction of the intake right? So impact icing on the actual intake scoop.

It's not (as mentioned by Tinstaffl) - (L)O-360-E1A6D on the PA-44-180.

Survivors reported that the aircraft encountered induction icing conditions
It sounds like the report is using the term "induction icing conditions" rather than "carby icing conditions" as fuel-injected engines are still succeptible to some icing types given the 'right' conditions. ie: it's not referring to any particular aircraft/engine but to the weather at the time.
