Perf A Book

The more I find out, the less I know.

I am looking for a really comprehensive guide to aircraft performance. I have re-read my old aerodynamic manuals, perf A notes, Handling the Big Jets, but I am after a comprehensive, easy to understand explanation of all aspects of aircraft performance. Does one exist?

"Aerodynamics for airline Pilots" by Capt. N.P. Ternvig. I don´t ´know if it´s comercially availible, but if you can´t find it anywhere else try the SAS Flight Acadamy in Stockholm/Arlanda

many books repeat what jar/far say other are uncompleted, what are you looking for exactly? I also find a lack of info, but have many books that may be helpful to you.

I've just broken down and purchased 'PJ Swatton's"Aircraft Performance Theory for pilots"(it's a bit pricey in Canada),but it sure cover's all The FAA/JAA stipulations of the day(with example Test/exams)

i have been trying unsucessfully to get it... no look over the internet..

am currently reading Aircraft Performance theory and practice by Martin E. Eshelby.
Book is best suited to a 1st year Aero Eng student. It tells u the stuff that u once knew, but long forgot because it wasn't that important.

M&V, Pete Swatton was my Perf A instructor some years ago and got me through the course. What a brain the man has. However, much of that was to do with your ability to read a graph accurately. I want to know more of the aerodynamics involved, what affects Vmcg, how to increase MTOM, best flap selection, those sorts of things. I guess I want a kind of airline pilot's reference book for performance. Is it that kind of book?. Cromanon, thanks. Is my explanation above more specific? I passed the exam years ago, but want to get to the nuts and bolts of how best to achieve the required aircraft performance, with plenty of easy to understand text and diagrams. Has it been writen yet?

To all concerned,it seem's to answer all the requirements(test exams) for CAA perf'A.,and answers for all performance criterior.It's more of a pilots manual than an engineering tome like CHris Carpenter's "flightwise 2"
aircraft control and stability.
