Out of curiousity how is this done? I have done some surfing on the topic but I'm wondering how it is executed and what material was dropped. Has anyone flown these jobs?

The idea is to introduce more hygroscopic nuclei into the cloud, water droplets form around these, and will eventually fall to earth as rain (when their mass can no longer be supported by the cloud's convection system).
As for the particles used, I cannot remember.

Silver Iodide is the most common medium used for seeding. Never been involved in it though.
They also seed fog with Carbon Dioxide (Dry Ice) pellets, and also using liquid Carbon Dioxide sprays which work pretty well! It is a bit alarming if you're walking across the ramp and they come flying overhead dropping ice, sounds like your being strafed!
