Question MD11

On occasion I have seen some MD11 (mostly Varig) with extra long exhaust cones on the engines. Anyboddy know why, and what it is for? (GE-engines)

It is not the cone that is longer, it is the
nozzel that is shorter. It is to due with
thrust rating, the longer nozzel has a higher
thrust rating.
This applies only to CF6 engines

Cool

Saw an Varig MD11 yesterday, sorry, but the nozzle looks like other. It is the cone that is much longer, and flapspylons allso seem different.

I will take a picture next time.

How can I copy a digital pic into a message..?
