Post 'Setting Standard' on analogue alt. (737/757)

Ok, this might sound pedantic, but it becomes relevent when we are doing altimiter checks accurate to 10' in RVSM airspace:

When you call 'set standard', what do you set? Most set 1013, which is not quite right. I understand that you should set 29.92 Ins (on the other scale), as this is the STANDARD pressure setting of 1013.2mb(hpa).
29.92 is EXACTLY 1013.2 (multiply by 33.86389).
Is this right?

The pressures you mention are correct, and personally I set 29.92, though I too realise that it's a bit academic.... It just feels better I suppose

Since the introduction of RVSM airspace, my Comany SOPs changed so that we now set 29.92, and, when passing FL200, make another altimeter crosscheck to ensure that they are within RVSM limits.
