COP26
So, where do we have to go to spot the VIP jets arriving for COP26 in Glasgow? GLA? PIK? EDI?
|
Can you do omnipresent?
|
I saw PIK mentioned as the main one.
Certainly plenty of parking space there. Some of the VVIP's are apparently staying in Edinburgh though. |
Aren't they all coming by train ?
|
The rail unions have voted to strike over the conference, as have the binmen. But its ok, the city will be draped in plastic bunting.
Meanwhile, as renfrew says, the private jets will be parking at PIK free of charge according to one newspaper this morning. |
Hot air balloon methinks - self sustaining...
|
Helium balloon.
Hot air still needs carbon fuel. Oh! Hang on, you mean from all the waffle.:) |
|
nearly, it might be a long wait for the next train :)

Lots of aircraft now making their way into GLA, PIK and a EDI for COP.
Somewhat ironically, some are drop and go....and route GLA-PIK! Could not make it up, especially for a climate conference!! 🤭 |
Colombian Air Force 767 landing at PIK
Namibian Govt Falcon for EDI. |
A few are coming down to Manchester to park up

As far as I can determine adsbexchange.com does not filter on owner request. It seems though impossible to find historic flights unless the aircraft is presently in flight. Many military flight show up too. There is a "military filter". Press "U". |

Air Force 1 has just left Rome, might get to see it chuntering Lydd-Barkway-Pole Hill or whatever the routing is for those overflights/northern arrivals which I can see passing overhead the Isle of Sheppey on a clear day.
|
Approaching Dungeness on a track of 326°.
|
Turkish registered Albanian A319 and Argentinian A330 parked up at MAN. A Turkish A330 was due in at midnight but got cancelled.
|
I saw the Delta A330 paralleling AF1 and he was west of Sheppey, but there was a hunk of cirrus across the patch of sky and at only 28000' with no trails either today anyway...! Think the VC-25 I saw in July was the other one - been nice to have seen them both after never having seen one at all. Or an E-4...
|
I'm about a half mile south of the COP26 venue. A police Vulcanair has been going round and round over this part of Glasgow all morning.
Just had a Puma pass over the house, first time I've seen and heard one for years! |
Any chance of some photos from our Scottish ppruners at PIK/GLA/EDI/INV/(?) please ?
|
BBC Scotland put up a selection.
See #32 above but more would be welcome. |
muggins
Apart from refueling it's been going round all day. UKP99 seems to have finished his circling and is now heading East following (escorting?) ALLYCAT3 a RAF Puma. |
