I heard it, if anything bit louder than previously, was on usual track, seems to usually go over Bovingdon VOR (near Chesham) then Detling VOR (near Maidstone), passing a couple of miles north of London City. Inevitably cloudy once again. The noise probably blown away from Sarf London by this morning's strong SW wind of course!

Turkish AF C-130 just followed a similar route, out of Prestwick.

Definitely rather breezy out there...

That BA Cityflyer EMB-190 from the other day is about to lift off from Biggin Hill heading to Belfast of all places. It has a BA flight number, very curious!

Oh well, Belfast seems to be in mainland Europe!

It's tricked me, Biggin's departure peculiarities took it eastwards before heading NW....

Biggin airways departures usually head east until they can be cleared to climb - he's heading NNW now.

Is City open at the moment? I know plans were in place to extend the taxiway full length and the ramp was being extended further over the dock (one of the jobs we were working on when our parent company crashed ) - just wondered if while it's quiet they have the opportunity to do some work which would clash with runway ops .

One for me I guess.

City has been open all along, but is down to one or two flights a day, plus the occasional business jet. Strangely the most consistent is a LOT E190 to Vilnius in Lithuania every evening. BA just seem to operate on certain days, to Belfast and to Frankfurt. There are about six BA Embraers there at the moment, the rest being mostly at Norwich, some seem to be in use, others not to have moved since Christmas. The ramp and taxyway works were mostly completed, and seem to have carried on, including overnight (I presume, by some of the distant engineering noises floating over). Ground support equipment still gets aired each day. I gather most of the staff were let go rather than just furloughed.

Thanks WHBM. Sad they let staff go, but perhaps they are able to take them back if things pick up... I've noticed Luxair Q400s in/out once or twice recently. On clear days I could see ops from my office desk in Croydon, a distant view of 27 approach beyond Shooters Hill and a closer view of the down wind for 09. Amazing how busy it was...

Just looking at Google, works for the extensions look to have been well advanced last year...

Irish AC CN235 just popped into Biggin.

Luxair hung on for a good while but seem to have suspended recently. Today (Thu 11 Mar) is a BA day so there are three flights; departures at 1635 to Belfast and 1700 to Frankfurt, with LOT at 1840 to Vilnius. The BA flights come back later in the evening, the LOT is scheduled in the usual 30 minutes before, but they haven't changed the flight time scheduled from normality, so it typically gets in extremely early.

* And as if to make the point, at 1330 Cityflyer G-LCYK has just departed, its first flight for a week, on a positioning run to Cardiff.

Downwind for 09 passes quite close to Crystal Palace transmitter, so near to you. I have a client up high in one of the offices by East Croydon station and it surprises how much you can see from there. The Crystal Palace transmitter is line-of-sight from the LCY tower (not a tower any more).

C-17 ZZ174 doing some interesting circuits at Gatwick, must be arousing interest amongst the denizens of Crawley... Just on his way NW via Biggin...

I think 21 at Biggin and 09 at London City share the same arrival route, with Biggin traffic turning left around Sidcup. We had better views from high up in our old offices in Whitgift Centre's Centre Tower but Blocks B and C and Lunar/Apollo House on the other side of Wellesley Rd plus Sydenham Hill obstructed most of the quadrant between N and E.

I think I got the slightest rumble which prompted me to have a look at ADS-B - been out walking and addressed more corporeal requirements (brewing coffee and cooking brekkers!) before looking at the Laptop.

Did pop outside but couldn't hear anything but the faintest sound over the traffic and next door's bloody chickens...

The AN-124 dragged itself off about an hour ago, headed for Istanbul.

It's strange that the other Max 8s delivered to them recently, on 27th Feb and 2nd March, are still parked at LGW and don't seem to have gone into service yet.

Maybe waiting for the Summer schedules at the end of this month ?

12.20 directly over south Bracknell above 90 degrees , 1800 feet black / yellow looking like a wasp , Aerospatiale AS355 F2 Ecureuil G-NLSE with the camera on the front. Heading W>E , now heading south.
[ Thanks G-ARZG :-) ] Apparently G-NLSE provides helicopter support for London and the South East rail networks, not sure where it's based ..there is a similar helicopter ; G-NLDR that covers ALL of the UK.

Just missed a chance to see my first 737MAX
I saw my first MAX at Vancouver in March 2019. I had just flown from Saigon via Hong Kong and had been offline for a while. I had a few hours to wait for my flight to Calgary, so I found a seat in a quiet gate area and was catching up on the latest PPRuNe posts on the Ethiopian crash.

While I was sitting there, an arriving Air Canada MAX taxied by, so I went to its gate to have a look. I discovered it was operating my flight to Calgary, so not only did I see my first MAX, I had my first and only flight in one. Next morning, TC grounded them!
