Well, the logical way to go is neither east nor west.

Incredibly con trailed in today's blue sky. Either the atmospherics were perfect, or the chem-trails contracts were being fulfilled, but it made for a rich tapestry in the blue yonder.

Interesting - I didn't know there was a strip at Farley Green (although confusingly there is one at the other Farley Green, in Suffolk, aka Peacocks Farm).

Both FlightAware and FR24 would suggest that the Cirrus routed from Fairoaks (its base) to Cranfield or thereabouts.

Edit: Just landed back at Fairoaks, from Cranfield.

Three US Army CH-47s clattered over Norfolk heading NW, did a smart about turn abeam Lincoln and now appear to be heading into Mildenhall/Lakenheath - COP26 related? Look like they've come from Illesheim near Nurnberg.

C30J is the ICAO designator for the C130J as flight plans require only 4 letters/digits. So the type is C130J - or in the case of this aircraft a C130J-30. As far as the RAF is concerned this is a Hercules C Mk 4.

Almost correct.

The "Type" field displayed by most, if not all, flight tracking apps and sites is indeed the ICAO designator, hence C30J for the C-130J Hercules (short or long variants - but note the hyphen after the role letter(s) as used in US military designations since 1962).

The EP-3E has just departed Mildenhall and heading south towards London - any chance of a glimpse, I can see blue bits in the sky!

Lovely deep drone but couldn't see him - too much scud...

Yes, a most lovely sound, somehow sounded 'old' in comparison to the varying propellor driven aircraft both military and civil. That's quiye a rare type, or variant these days. I've always liked the Orion.

Only just abeam St Johns, with over 2000 miles to go must be arriving well after midnight - might be midnight Zulu, 0100 local? Tempted to stay up and see if the arrival is via London but I suspect not. Still haven't seen one.

SHJ, yeah the Orions do sound good, one assumes much the same as the the C-130H as I think it's the same engine/prop, tho I don't recall it quite so deep.

On its last visit to the UK, in connection with Biden's trip in June, it flew straight OTT Hounslow/Wembley/Edgware en route to Mildenhall.

No sign of it yet this time around.

This afternoon, I heard an amazingly loud twin overhead, climbing out of Calgary.

FR24 told me it was a Beechcraft Duke. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one before.

Ah yes, the Lead Sled, effectively a cabin class Baron. Never seemed very popular in Europe, just a handful on the UK Register - Roger Whittaker had one that he whistled around in (G-SONG)...

Finally appeared around 01:15, this time staying well north of London - over Swindon and Didcot, then a bit of a jiggle to overfly Luton and Stevenage:
